Bryson DeChambeau’s tape drill will elevate your curveball

Let Bryson DeChambeau help make you a better football player (and right away!).

It’s been such a crazy year for Bryson DeChambeau that, in some ways, he’s become the unofficial face of golf.

Not only did he grab his second major win at this year’s US Open at Pinehurst No. , and instructional golf videos.

Bryson DeChambeau made headlines when he talked about his 'salty balls' during the US Open, but he's not the first to try this method.

While it’s cool to see DeChambeau trying to break 50 with a bunch of celebrities and all, it’s even better to see how he’s helping average golfers like you and me get better at golf. That’s valuable information – especially when it comes from one of the best golfers in the world.

One of my favorite videos of his can be seen below, it’s short, simple, and really helpful when it comes to improving your batting skills. Even better, it only requires masking tape, a lob wedge, and a few practice balls. So whether you’re trying at home or on the practice range, try to see the best contact immediately.

Try Bryson DeChambeau’s simple tape drill

What I love most about this tape drill from DeChambeau is how easy it is. Instead of using a golf training aid or other gizmo or gadget – which are obviously useful and serve a purpose – he shows that taping down can make your golfers better (over time, of course).

“All you get is a piece of tape and you tape it down [to the ground],” DeChambeau said. “You can also put a Sharpie line on it, if you want to draw on your area, or spray paint it – there’s a lot of different things.”

I was terrified of my 60-degree wedge – until I found this tutorial

As a medium, I really struggle with strong communication. Hey, that’s why I’m a middle man, right? But this tape drill not only gives you a visual of where to find the low point of the club to press the ball to get a better shot, but it gives instant feedback while doing so.

“This is a good way[seeifyou’restrikingtheballbeforethelineornot”hesays[yokubonaukuthiushayaibholangaphambikomugqanomacha”ushokanje[seeifyou’restrikingtheballbeforethelineornot”hesays

So whether you keep rubbing it, lifting it, or hitting it on the toe or heel, DeChambeau says using tape on the ground will give you a baseline, while allowing you to see why you shot or shot.

“Get your 60-degree wedge, set your line down to get your first line,” he adds. “If you cut it, you’ll quickly remove that tape. And if you hit in front of you, you won’t hit the tape.

“So the goal here is to feel like you’ve just cut the leading edge of that tape — you’re making sure you’re separating between that line.”
