Anthony Joshua Refuses To Retire: “It’s Not Over”

Anthony Joshua posted a short video clip on social media today, saying he is not retiring and has “a lot to offer” in boxing. However, Joshua (28-4, 23 KOs) did not say whether he will hold a rematch with IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois to avenge his knockout loss last Saturday night.

Since Joshua didn’t say anything about the rematch, it looks like he will go the other way. When Joshua lost to Oleksandr Usyk and Andy Ruiz Jr. First, he just said he wanted to try to avenge the defeat. This time, nothing like that comes out of AJ’s mouth.

Joshua, 34, must know how he was beaten and beaten again by the younger boxer, Dubois, in front of 98,000+ fans at Wembley Stadium that he will be knocked down in the rematch.

The fight ended with Dubois knocking Joshua out with a right hand in the fifth, leaving him in a heap on the canvas. A few minutes before that, Joshua charged the crowd, sticking out his tongue as if to say, ‘This is an easy job.’ Things quickly turned sour for AJ.

“It’s far from over. I know we have a lot to bring to this game,” Joshua said on social media in his short video clip. “We are doing it for the third time [winning heavyweight title] it is something I believe I can achieve.”

Joshua could become a three-division world champion if the three titles are separated after Oleksandr Usyk retires, but that’s the only way. AJ has already lost twice to Usyk, and it’s clear that he has his number.

With Eddie Hearn pulling the strings, Joshua could end up holding a third heavyweight title, but for a trick by his clever promoter. Hearn helped Joshua win his first world title, defeating IBF champion Charles Martin in London, England, in April 2016. Ultimately, Usyk will vacate one of the belts when he retires, and Joshua can go after it.

Ideally, Joshua should go for a money fight with Tyson Fury in early 2025 and forget Dubois forever. He is too small, strong, and tough to beat. Dubois is too much for AJ to handle, and a rematch could be disastrous for the former two-time heavyweight champion.
