Joshua Can’t Fully Believe He Can Beat Dubois In A Rematch
Commentator Steve Bunce thinks that Anthony Joshua will not have the same belief that he can beat Daniel Dubois in a rematch as he did after losing to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019.

Joshua (28-4, 23 KOs) is now five years older at 34, while Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) is 27 years younger. He has a bigger puncher than Andy Ruiz, and he doesn’t party and his easy way to 280+ lbs.
It is unknown if Joshua will choose to fight Dubois again because it is risky, and he could make a lot of money fighting Tyson Fury next. If his promoter, Eddie Hearn, can come up with a good excuse to tell the public why AJ won’t fight Dubois again, they will believe him.
Joshua and Hearn found it very easy to open the rematch clause and fight Ruiz Jr. again. because he was very heavy. He didn’t have much talent. He was a regular opponent that Joshua used as a replacement opponent when Jarrell Miller tested positive for drugs in 2019.
“He is old and he should ask himself how old he is. He was very confident after that [Andy] Ruiz is fighting to win the rematch,” said Steve Bunce on iFL TV about whether Anthony Joshua will seek a rematch with Daniel Dubois the way he did after his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019.
If Joshua is worried about how the fans will perceive him in a rematch, he will overcome his fear and fight Dubois again. But Hearn or one of his teammates might talk him into parting ways with Dubois again.
“I’m not sure if he can have the same confidence. He fully believed that if he found Ruiz again, he would beat him. It was a complete belief. He is not stupid. I don’t think he would fully believe he would beat Dubois in a rematch. He may not say it but it is heard,” said Bunce.
Joshua won’t have the confidence to beat Dubois like he did Ruiz, but that goes without saying. Against Ruiz, Joshua was knocked out in the first round, and fought well until he was knocked out in the third round on June 1, 2019.
“It would have been stopped a few rounds earlier. He seemed to be thinking a lot,” said Diallian Whyte on iFL TV about Joshua thinking a lot and not letting go of his hands. “Sometimes, AJ can be a bit of a thinker. AJ was thinking instead of throwing up. Dubois was throwing up his hands. Dubois was sharp. Credit to him, his father, and Don Charles.
AJ’s trainer, Ben Davison, was not going to take him out of the Dubois fight and risk an upset. We’ve seen Joshua change trainers many times, and it would be too risky for Ben to take him out of the Dubois fight in the second or third round to save him.
For coaches who are confident that they will not be fired for sending their players out if they are beaten, it will not be a problem; given how many times Joshua has changed trainers, Ben will be risking the sack if he throws in the towel in the first two or three rounds last Saturday.
“Joshua made a lot of money and did great things. He can come back and have good fights. He made a lot of money and gained a lot of fame. Maybe that spark isn’t there,” Whyte said.
Dubois hurt Joshua not because of the wealth AJ has gained in recent years. Joshua was hurt because he couldn’t take the power of Dubois or any fighter who hit hard. Joshua’s chin has been on the line since his fight with Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, and he has stunned many times since then.
The soldiers tortured Joshua:
– Daniel Dubois
– Carlos Takam
– Alexandr Povetkin
– Andy Ruiz Jr.
– Oleksandr Usyk
– Kubrat Pulev
– Wladimir Klitschko
– Dillian Whyte
“That’s not an easy fight for Tyson Fury,” said Whyte, in response to being told that Fury wants to beat Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 and beat Dubois to become the undefeated champion. “Fury must be careful because Dubois has that kind of power in Ngannou. Dubois can box much better than Ngannou. So, he should be careful.
“Fury can tie Dubois up so he can’t fight because Dubois let AJ tie him up so easily. It was crazy,” Whyte said.
Dubois will still be a problem for Fury because he can’t hold back to win like he did against Deontay Wilder. Fury’s chin isn’t as good as it used to be, and Dubois will hit him with harder shots than Oleksandr Usyk hurt him with.
Dubois’ body shots will give Fury problems because he tends to lean against the ropes to avoid head shots. His body is always unprotected when he does that.
