Legal pressure in the US and other countries accusing Google of controlling the internet search market has fueled discussions about a possible sale of Chrome, raising concerns among employees. Reports on an unknown forum Team Blind suggest that this movement may begin mass layoffs in early 2025and about 1,200 workers are reported to have already let go before Christmas.
A Team Blind the user highlighted possible signs of layoffs and layoffs, prompting responses from Google employees who identified themselves as confirming the January layoffs. Projections indicate that low-wage workers, whose employment will increase by 8-10% by 2024, are the most likely to be affected.

While there is no official confirmation linking this outage to a potential Chrome issue, the situation is compelling growing tension within Google as it navigates regulatory challenges and operational restructuring. Attempts to stop the sale of Chrome, including the expected intervention of Donald Trump, seem unlikely, as Judge Amit Mehta is expected to reject the former president’s involvement in the case.
