Chill puzzle game Faraway sees you draw constellations with one button
There’s something compelling about one-button games as developers give themselves a hard edge with their creativity. Sometimes, they take full advantage of that. One of my favorite games this year, Btn Officers Oneit gets it right because of strict controls and it doesn’t seem like it’s unfair.
It’s too far it’s an upcoming game in the same way. This procedurally generated title from developer Steph Thirion (aka Small Eyes) and publisher Annapurna Interactive is coming to PC in 2025. It’s too far it’s been a long time coming – Thirion announced it on the iPhone back in 2010. Since the original reveal, one developer has reworked the game with an engaging new art style.
You play as a shooting star and use the gravity of the nearest star to swing your way to your destination. When you get there, you’ll use the same mechanic to draw a random constellation. If you create loops between them, you will get a score multiplier. Along with the massive procedurally generated levels, there’s a mode that asks you to draw specific shapes. Another puzzle mode encourages you to score as high as you can in a certain formation.
During Wednesday’s Devs Show, Thirion (who made the original iPhone stand out Elis) said he took inspiration Tetris to create a small, playable game with random features and lots of depth. up, It’s too far it has relaxing sounds and visuals, but you’ll need to keep your mind engaged if you want to score well.
