It’s not that I had low expectations of the handset and its potential offerings when I first pre-ordered without thinking about how far back, but I guess I really didn’t know. what expectations beyond crank-centric games Panic was first teased before its release, which seemed to be aimed at short bursts of gameplay. A work of art so touch on the smallest details, and I love the style of it all. The big characters in particular – like the frog prince you can stuff into his belly – really come alive. Between music, art, lore and general vibes, Echo: The Oracle’s Scroll it brought me completely close. If there’s one Playdate game you should be reading right now, this is it.
