The Suicide Squad Finds (and Attempts) One Last Chase
Things have been weird for Suicide Squad for the past decade. After their 2016 film came out to lukewarm response, later projects with the antihero team have been negative. James Gunn’s 2021 film is generally considered to be the best, and that anime from earlier this year proved to be just as good. But DCEU fans were hoping that director David Ayer’s original vision would see the light of day with the “Ayer Cut,” while playing video games, Rocksteady’s. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League it has been one of the biggest problems of the year.
Somehow, both the game and the 2016 movie finally resurfaced this week. First, Rocksteady has finally confirmed that Deathstroke will be joining the The group The show is on Tuesday, December 10. DC’s killer will be on the show the fourth post-launch character, following Joker, Mrs. Freeze, and Deadshot’s daughter Lawless, and the question is if many will join them. Over the summer, WB Games told IGN Rocksteady would see The Suicide Squad’s Year 1 content guide, but danced around anything later. The game’s development problems and poor performance have been well documented, and it’s said that Rocksteady is aiming to make single-player games as well, so Slade might be the last one to join. As for the film, Ayer recently reiterated his initial hope Suicide Squad to be released to the public. He told his fans at X how much he appreciates the “continued support and interest,” and that the best version of him “has yet to be seen.” If you don’t like it [the theatrical cut]here is an opportunity to see what I intended and judge when you have all the information.” He admitted that the chances of it being released were out of his hands and that it reached WB and James Gunn. However, he objected to that it should it seems, especially on the grounds that it would be “a lot of fun” for fans of his work who still feel undervalued by being played in theaters.
“If it happens to be cool. If it doesn’t cool down. It’s not that deep,” he concluded in response. “I think you have to see it and judge it then. If it’s yours, it’s all good.”
I hope my original film can be shared one day. Thank you for your continued support and interest.

Currently, it is unknown what future Suicide Squad has as a brand, and DC is not launching a new comic for the team. They’ll probably still get some attention, but the team-up of Harley, Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot made famous by the New 52 and 2016 movies is probably done for now. It’s still a while before we see who will headline the next batch, and what strange missions they get caught up in.
