Teofimo Lopez Calls Ennis, Davis and Crawford: Big Battle-Eager Bid?
Teofimo Lopez took advantage of the spotlight on Saturday’s ESPN cards to call out Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Gervonta Davis, and Terence Crawford, as well. Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) is looking for a big fight after being snubbed in his recent attempts to lure Devin Haney to a fight.
Lopez is looking for Ennis
If Teofimo is serious about fighting Ennis, he will have to be at welterweight because he is too big to go down to 140.
In the interview, Lopez said he deserves a big cut from the expensive guys because he is “the king of this category.” He’s not going to get any of those guys with his attitude, and he’ll likely have to continue to fight the elusive opposition he’s had the past few years.
Interestingly, Teofimo, 27, wants to fight Ennis because, in the past, he felt he brought nothing to the table. Does her recent poor performance against Karen Chukhadzhian have something to do with Teo’s sudden interest?
“I need a boy to fight. If you say you are the best, fight the best,” said Teofimo Lopez in Top Rank Boxing, saying he wants to return to the ring when he faces good opponents. “Jaron Ennis ‘Boots’, Gervonta Davis, and Terence Crawford,” said Teofimo when asked who he wanted to fight.
Gervonta will not waste time fighting Teofimo because he has more than 135 fighters to face. Crawford doesn’t take Teo seriously and won’t bother.
When ESPN’s Mark Kriegel asked Teofimo who he wanted to fight, he dismissed Boots, Tank, and Crawford. It’s not the first time Teofimo has called big names, and the only one who ever brought him was Vasily Lomachenko. Some of the boys Teofimo fought with were young.
