Apple Vision Pro will soon work with PlayStation VR2 controllers

Apple and Sony have been quietly working to bring PlayStation VR2 controller support to the Apple Vision Pro, reports Mark Gurman at Open it newspaper. Gaming isn’t the Vision Pro’s strong suit, in part because it doesn’t support standard VR controls. But Apple has reportedly approached Sony in hopes of fixing that. According to Gurman, the two teamed up earlier this year, and Sony has been working on this project for months.

Apple and Sony have planned support for the PS VR2’s Sense controllers now, but the launch is delayed as they work out a few issues, Gurman notes — like the fact that Sony doesn’t manufacture and sell the controllers separately from its headsets. at the moment. Barring a situation where the project is “suddenly scrapped,” however, Gurman reports that we should still expect to see it happen. The ability to use Sony’s controls with the Vision Pro headset will bring benefits beyond its gaming capabilities, and allow more precise input for tasks such as media editing than is currently possible with its eye- and touch-based controls.
