Spotify’s 2024 Wrap-up Results arrived this week, and while the whole package seems small compared to years past, we’re still getting a kick out of seeing our listening habits revealed. Apple Music is also dropping its annual Replay, and Tidal’s 2024 Rewind is here, so non-Spotify users have some data to add as well. For those of us who don’t use any of the major streaming apps, it’s still a good time to reflect on personal favorites this year.
Here are some of Engadget’s most-listened-to songs, artists and albums in 2024 (and how we feel about those picks).
Spotify Folded
I hate to add to the list because of all the controversy surrounding Spotify lately, but I have to say that layoffs at the company seem to be having an impact on how accurate I’ve found my Wrapped report to be. Although I certainly listened to a lot of Ariana Grande in 2024 (I even wrote about it on our site!), I felt that the sections I listened to in August were wrong. According to Spotify I was playing Rose and Bruno Mars’ APT in August, but wasn’t that song released recently?
Anyway, judge me or not based on my listening — all I can say is that the data sounds imprecise and incomplete but also fun and useful. – Cherlynn Low, Deputy Editor, Review
I’ve been very sick this year, and I’ve spent hours in the hospital and clinic waiting rooms listening to music on Spotify. Apparently, March was my “Pink Pilates Princess Strut Pop” phase, because I listened a lot to Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande and Charli xcx. However, my standout artist this year was Fujii Kaze, whose music gave me so much comfort when I needed it most. — Mariella Moon, Contributing Reporter

Apple Music Replay
I have had it GNX on repeat since it came out, and it was one of the things that got me into our busy Black Friday season. I’m very excited to see which of these tracks are played live at the Super Bowl. My guessat a time with which we will bring out “tv” (with at least one shout of “Mustard!”) and “argument,” at least.
Brat Summer became Brat Fall, and will continue to be Brat Winter for me. Top songs: “Club Classic,” “Sympathy Is a Knife,” and “365.”
Grass it’s my real album of the year and a must listen for any urbano latino fans. It’s as enjoyable as an album from start to finish, and any arrangement you make based on your personal tastes is sure to be great. My favorite songs – “Legendario,” “Manhattan,” “Menina” – are still on repeat in my playlist and will carry over to 2025.
While The Renaissance It’s still my favorite album of Beyonce’s cycle so far, Cowboy Carter it has no excess. “Daughter,” “Spaghetti” and “Sweet Honey Buckin’” are my favorites.
The death of Slim Shady it makes sense as a concept album to me and I think it succeeds that way. But “Tobey” is what made me listen to the whole album when it came out, and I’m glad I did. “Tobey” is still my favorite song, along with “Renaissance” and “Somebody Save Me.” –Valentina Palladino, Deputy Editor, Shopping Advice
Despite the fact that music streaming services push you into playlists and radio stations, I’m always an Album Guy. And as always, my best album of the year didn’t come out this year, even though it was just released. For the daughter Stereo Mind Game it was near the top of my list last year, but in April it moved up my list and bothered me all summer. That is due to the large part of the studio they released on YouTube which was the only chance I had to hear these songs performed live, as the daughter did not tour. Stereo Mind Game at all.
And since I’m an album guy, the first four songs on the album were my second to fifth most played songs in 2024. The smash hit “Blame Brett” by Canadian pop-rockers The Beaches was number one, from their incredible set. I blame my ex album that also came out last year. I fell in love with that album in late 2023 and it went into the first half of 2024. The same thing happened with Tool’s 2019 opus. Fear Inoculum – I saw the band in November of 2023 for the first time in 21 years, I thought again and continued to play it for a whole year.
Finally, something new from a very old thread: David Gilmour, best known as the guitarist and co-songwriter of the legendary Pink Floyd, has released his first solo album in nine years. He followed that up with a much shorter tour that hit just four cities, including New York City. I was lucky enough to go see him a few weeks ago – at 78, this may be his last trip, but he still delivers. He is my favorite guitar player of all time, with the last song “Scattered” on Luck and Strange he’s always good at almost anything else he does.
Bringing up the background is another new album from an old favorite, Pearl Jam. More than 30 years after their first game ten, they know how to make a great rock album. Both Pearl Jam and Gilmour went with producers much younger than themselves, trying to find people who wouldn’t be recognized for their previous work in long and impressive careers. If you ask me, it worked in both cases.
There are tons of other albums by much younger or less established artists that I’ve played throughout the year, including Bathe Alone’s. I don’t do moisture, Photo by Adrienne Lenker A Bright Futureby Billie Eilish Hit Me Hard and SoftMedium Build’s Country, Red Girl I repeat my child! and Waxahatchee’s Tigers Blood. They’re all worth a listen – but clearly this was a year of comfort and familiarity when I repeated things. – Nathan Ingraham, Deputy Editor, News
Tidal Rewind
This year for me was obviously about preparing a handful of new songs and playing them to absolute death. Also, Ariana Grande. I don’t have Spotify, but my year-end Tidal playlist has all the songs from it Eternal Sun up, and I’m ashamed to say I can’t dispute the truth of that – I had that album on loop for months after it came out. You are really talented, okay?? After that my most played songs were “Cry For Me” by Castle Rat, “Bloom” by Baroness (probably my favorite song, really), “How Long Will It Take?” by Orville Peck and Noah Cyrus, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Strange World” by Allie X and “Red Wine Supernova” by Chappell Roan. I… contain multitudes…
There is a suspicious lack of emo in my 2024 wrap, so I’m going to take these results with a huge grain of salt. I mean my go-to playlist is titled “rawr xD.” – Cheyenne MacDonald, Weekend Editor
Personal choice
I don’t have Spotify, so any memories of music that stick out to me will be vague and muddled by recency bias. About that: hoooooly moly can we talk about that Cindy Lee album?? My journey with Diamond Jubilee he went like this:

-No really, what is this??
-Why can’t I listen to anything but this???
Its two-hour running time plays like a secret radio station broadcasting an alternative version of girl groups from the 60s to 2024 and I really liked it – and that was before I realized that Pat Flegel was in Women (another great, but very. different band).
Honorable mentions go to Adrianne Lenker’s absolute crush A Bright Futurewhich made me recover from major surgery and nervy bops in Robber Robber Wild guess. About my most listened songs?
