Aiming to increase his athleticism and strengthen his body, Emma Raducanu hire a well-known fitness trainer.
22-year-old Raducanu hired a fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamurai The BBC’s Russell Fuller reports. Nakamura has worked with Grand Slam champions Maria Sharapova again Naomi Osaka.

World No. 58 Raducanu has been plagued by surgeries and injuries since her run at the 2021 US Open where she made history as the first qualifier, male or female, to capture a Grand Slam singles crown.
Raducanu, who fell to Sofia Kenin in the first round of the US Open, has reached the quarterfinals in two of her last three tournaments in 2024.
The BBC reports that Raducanu has been training with his team — coach Nick Cavaday and Nakamura — training this week in London at the National Tennis Center in preparation for his opening match in 2025 in Auckland.
Raducanu, who turned 22 on November 13, said Nakamura will be with him for many weeks of the year. He hopes that the work they do together will help him stay healthy and improve his athleticism on the court.
“I think he will help me to test how far I can go, like running,” said Raducanu. The BBC’s Russell Fuller. “I think it’s my biggest unfulfilled potential. I think I can be one of the best athletes out there in tennis and I’m looking forward to seeing how much I can do.
“My natural game is something I have to work on. I have to sharpen it, I have to polish it, it’s still very raw and I don’t think it’s developed anywhere so you’re going to help me explore that.”
