Disneyland’s Festive Star Wars Dinner Is a Stop-In Day of a Lifetime

star Wars fans can get a different perspective of Disneyland holidays from Galaxy’s Edge with unique food and nighttime shows.

If sitting next to Sleeping Beauty Castle all day waiting for fireworks isn’t your thing, there’s a new way to see the show with a twist. Well, it’s not that new (Magic Key pass holders have known about it for a long time); in fact, you’ve always been able to see the backdrop of fireworks in various parts of Galaxy’s Edge without the large crowds down Main Street and at the castle. This little hack has gotten a boost since Season of the Force earlier this year, which introduced a new droid narrator and music used in the park’s summer highlights, and now it’s ready for the holidays.

Now you can enjoy the effects of the John Williams film during the nightly fireworks display “Fire of the Rising Moons” in a private way as part of the festival offerings at Galaxy’s Edge. There are a number of places to check out what’s going on, including the TIE Fighter landing platform near the First Order location, near the Droid Depot’s fast location, and on the sides. The Millennium Falcon (where the storyteller droid is placed above the space near Smugglers Run).

To make the whole night, Galaxy’s Edge restaurant Docking Bay 7 offered a package to give fans a taste of Batuu for the holidays. For $89 a person (booking info here; io9 got a decent meal for review, but paid to enter the park), plus drinks for adults, you can get a fun themed space meal, which is just a taste of the standard fare. you will see in star Wars the whole place.

Included in the ration boxes are:

  • Unlimited fountain drinks including the fan-favorite Black Café soft drink
  • Special non-alcoholic drinks in a commemorative souvenir cup
  • Fried cheeseburger bites croquette
  • Apricot goat cheese with honey, za’atar, sour cherry glaze, cheddar, Monterey jack, and pita chips
  • Dragon fruit yogurt topped with fresh berries and lychee pearls
  • Cream puffs inspired by the cold Black Café and green milk drinks available at Black Spire Outpost

The meal felt more like a snack package than a dinner package, which made $89 (on top of the inflated park ticket prices) feel steep. It certainly looked the part with amazing design, and we were happy that Disneyland offered plant-based and gluten-free options. But I think back, the Galactic Starcruiser‘s star Wars the unlimited light bite stations during lunch were very filling and tasty.

This package leans more on sweets and fruity bites than on the heart side. The burger croquettes were really good, but there were no seconds and we couldn’t eat more than three or four. We liked the Black Cafe creampuff and the plant-based chocolate mint pudding, though. Your total milage may vary for this package. At least you can find as many Cold Brew Black Cafs as you like if you want to hit hyperdrive all night, but there are no options for warm decaffeinated drinks, which would be welcome in the cold. winter night. We really miss the Black Spire Hot Chocolate with lavender whipped cream that was available before the pandemic (please, bring this back!).

The great height of the package comes with access to the best viewing area for fireworks The Falcon don’t pay attention. The show lasts about 13 minutes and fills Galaxy’s Edge with the wonder of John Williams’ soundtrack approved by fireworks. However, there are odd gaps where it feels like the show is relaxing whatever is going on in the castle which we think could be fixed with a simple show and projection in Batuu to go along with it all. Since Life Day is a worldwide holiday, it would be great to see more animations or themes set to that, and it could continue until the end of the Christmas season.
