Bahamas Moment Member of Parliament pulls out parliament window

A parliamentary session in the Bahamas was brought to a dramatic halt after an opposition MP threw marijuana out of a window.

Shanendon Cartwright, the deputy leader of the opposition, was restrained by police and officials following the incident.

During these arguments, the Deputy Speaker was beaten and rushed to the hospital, while a police officer was injured in the leg, Speaker Patricia Deveaux told parliament.

Local media said the uproar broke out when Ms Deveaux refused to allow Opposition Leader Michael Pintard to speak about the alleged US indictment accusing state police of involvement in drug trafficking.

Throwing fog from the window has an important history in the country.

In 1965, the leader of the opposition did the same when he pushed for electoral reform, in an event called “Black Tuesday”.
