Mike Madison Finally Feels The Full Weight Of His Spoilery Scream Kill

Mike Madison finally accepts what he did. For the past few years, this year’s Oscar star has been hopeful Anora played Amber in the fifth Shout out the movie. Next (just titled Shout out), Amber is finally revealed to be not only one of Ghostface’s two killers, but the one who killed Dewey, David Arquette’s character from the beginning. Shout out. It was a big deal, which Madison didn’t quite understand at the time.

“I have to be honest, when I was making the film, it sounds silly, but I didn’t know that many fans didn’t have it, which I was able to find now,” Madison told Collider Ladies Night. . “Shout out and horror fans and people who like horror movies are the best people out there, but I got into it unknowingly. “

Only three characters—Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courteney Cox), and Dewey (Arquette)—survive from the original. Shout out movies so killing one was a big surprise. And for it to be Dewey directly it had a big impact. He is a character who until that time seemed invincible, as he survived all kinds of stabbings and other attacks. It is a quality that endeared him to the audience. Fans of the trilogy took the loss hard and, apparently, some even blamed Madison.

“I remember being sad because I was like, ‘Oh, he’s a great character. It’s going to be sad to see him go.’ Then I saw the heartache that many people felt,” she said. “People came to me, and said, ‘I hate what happened. I’m angry.’ And I say, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t write the script!’ I didn’t want to do it.”

In our opinion, killing Dewey—or at least one of the characters—should have happened in Shout out a torch that will be well passed on to this new generation. And while that has since been blindsided in some very bad ways (Campbell quitting in the sixth quarter, Melissa Barrera getting fired in the seventh quarter, etc.), raising the stakes by killing off a key character was the right call. We think it should happen again soon.

Madison is currently seen on Anora; i Shout out franchise, with Campbell and Cox returning as partners, will return next year.
