Pacheco Vs. Nelson Scheduled January 25 in Las Vegas

Undefeated 168-lb contender Diego Pacheco will face Steven Nelson on January 25 in Las Vegas. Pacheco (22-0, 18 KOs) wants to stay busy in 2025, and fighting undefeated #13 WBO Nelson (20-0, 16 KOs) is one way to do that.

Lance Pugbmire [@pugboxing] reports Pacheco will be fighting Nelson next on January 25 in Las Vegas. This is another step forward in the career of the 23-year-old Pacheco.

This is a decent fight for Paccheco, but not the one he’s interested in. He wants to challenge for the world title, but it may take the Honorable Turki Alalshikh to do that.

Pacheco is in a position to challenge joint super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez for his titles. However, he may not get a chance to fight this Mexican star if he chooses to serve him. The thing the 6’4″ Pacheco has going for him is that he looks unbeatable in his six-year career, and he’s only 23 years young.

It won’t be surprising if Canelo picks Pacheco if he looks poor in his fight with Nelson. He can’t look good when he’s facing Nelson because he’s not paying it back

Nelson, 36, is on a roll and hasn’t fought anyone of note in his eight-year professional career. Hardcore fans have a lot of praise for Nelson, but he hasn’t beaten anyone to deserve the praise. He is 36 years old.

Steven Nelson’s Recent Fights:

– Marcos Vazquez
– Rowdy Legend Montgomery
– James Ballard
– DeAndre Ware
– Cem Kilic

Those five fights ate up Nelson’s four-year career until 2024, and he’s too old to fight these rare fighters at that level.

Pacheco is ranked #1 WBO, #3 WBC, and #4 IBF. He is in a position to challenge Canelo’s WBO if the sanctioning body orders it. Nelson is ranked #13 WBO. He would be at a high level if he was active and fighting at the high level that opposition fans hear about.

Eddie Hearn-Pacheco’s latest win

– Maciej Sulecki
– Shawn McCalman
– Marcelo Coceres
– Manuel Gallegos
– Jack Cullen

Nelson needs to start getting on with his career because he is too old to fight scrubs. He got lucky here with Pacheco picking him, but once this fight is over, he could be right back where he started, fighting unknown opposition for the rest of his career.
