Former United lightweight champion Nate Campbell says Dmitry Bivol will eventually face Artur Beterbiev as long as he can get the punishment he will serve out on October 12 in Riyadh.
Campbell picks IBF, WBC, and WBO light heavyweight champion Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) to win by knockout over WBA champion Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs) due to power his. Nate is going with Beterbiev as his choice until someone proves him wrong, and he doesn’t believe Bivol is a big enough peach to do that.
Nurses still have Bivol as favorites despite many fans rooting for Beterbiev to win. It’s easy to see why the bettors are picking Bivol, because he’s 33 years younger, doesn’t come off the knee like Beterbiev, and holds a surprise win over Canelo Alvarez.
“Beterbiev [will win]. One of my followers was trying to get him on the podcast, and he was hitting a bag in the gym. My boy said, ‘Whoa, who keeps banging on your gym door?’ He said, ‘That’s not the door. That’s Artur hitting the bag,’” Nate Campbell told YSM Sports Media, talking about why he’s picking Artur Artur Beterbiev to beat Dmitry Bivol on October 12.
“Until you show me that I am different, Beterbiev. Can you beat it? You can slow down a puncher by being a big puncher. Tell me which boy is the big puncher [than Beterbiev]. Bivol can box; I know you know how to box. But can he hit? I knew how to box and I knew how to punch.”
Bivol has decent power, but it’s not extraordinary. He can take out guys, but he has to shoot more often during the fight. To do that, he risks being beaten. Fighting Beterbiev that way would be too dangerous for him to get away with.
“So that changes the dynamics of the game if you know how to box and you know how to hit. What is the most dangerous style of boxing? [boxer-puncher]. It will end when he can’t stand it anymore,” said Campbell about the fight that will take as long as Bivol can get Beterbiev’s punishment.
Bivol will probably make it worse by staying on the move, scrambling, and catching Beterbiev when he gets close. He knows he can’t fight him inside without getting beaten. It will be a hit and run kind of battle with Bivol.
