Canelo Vs. Jake Paul: “1000% It Will Happen”
Jake Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarian, says the fight between him and Canelo Alvarez “will happen” this year or 2025.
Bidarian is confident that one of the US District Commissioners will sanction the Canelo vs. Paul as a professional match, pointing out that the Floyd Mayweather Jr. match. vs. Conor McGregor was approved when they fought in 2017.
Holding Money
According to Bidarian, the Canelo-Jake Paul fight will have three-minute rounds. It would be a very profitable battle. The important thing is that the fight happens soon before Canelo, 34, (62-2-2, 39 KOs) loses another one or his popularity declines.
It would be a disturbing type of match if it happened because boxing fans would be frustrated by the lack of Jake Paul at the professional level. Losing to Tommy Fury, a British home-ranked star, and beating the retired 58-year-old Mike Tyson was not enough for Jake to rate the fight against Canelo.
The war between them will be final and considered as to hold money fight in the circus. It’s one thing for Jake, 27, to fight an older guy like Mike Tyson, but the fans will see Chuta if he fights Canelo Alvarez.
No one can take this fight seriously unless Jake beats a top fighter at cruiserweight or someone who has moved up in weight to light heavyweight. With an estimated cost of $250 million, Canelo is not hurting for money being lured into a fight with Jake Paul, which won’t do as well as some think unless the YouTuber beats a top-level fighter first.
Jake Must Prove Himself
In order for Jake to be considered a credible Canelo opponent, he needs at least one win over an active world-class fighter. Tommy Fury is NOT world class, and Jake lost him.
Options for Jake to Earn Loyalty
– Gilberto Ramirez
– Jai Opetaia
– Artur Beterbiev
– Dmitry Bivol
– David Benavidez
– Noel Mikaelyan
Canelo’s reputation is on the decline because he hasn’t been in a big fight with 50-50 ratings since he fought Dmitry BIvol in 2022. Canelo has been defying reality ever since, winning his last five bouts. He has been CHOSEN NOT to fight David Benavidez or David Morrell, and he is choosing his opponents in this final phase of his career.
His last opponent, Edgar Berlanga, was embarrassingly bad, a fighter with no experience of quality opposition, who sold the fight as a Puerto Rico vs. Mexico, although not from Puerto Rico. It was a a sad marketing gimmickand the battle lacked entertainment value, with 190+ Berlanga in survival mode for 12 rounds to one side. Canelo picked this guy and did nothing with his popularity. It showed that the Mexican star chooses from the bottom of the barrel to his opponents.
“1000% Possible”
“According to Canelo Alvarez, that fight is 1000% going to happen. “Whether it happens this year or next year, that’s undoubtedly in Jake Paul’s way,” manager Nakisa Bidarian said on the talkSport Boxing channel on YouTube about the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul that has to happen.
“It’s definitely not a two-minute round. Tell me what is the most important penal system in America. What would you say?” said Bidarian when he was told that none of the four governing bodies in boxing would approve a fight between Canelo and Jake Paul.”
Canelo has yet to say whether he will take the fight with Jake Paul, and it is unlikely that he will because of the criticism he will receive. Unless Jake is willing to fight and beat one of the better known fighters in the cruiserweight or light heavyweight division, Canelo wouldn’t dare fight him because of the criticism he would receive.
Canelo’s Asking Price for the Fight
Jake is not willing to fight a top ranked cruiserweight like Jai Opetaia because he is not that type of fighter. He is still a pioneer, bringing in audiences because of his presence on social media.
“If they do Mayweather vs. McGregor, why can’t they do Canelo vs. Jake Paul,” said Bidarian, pointing out that one of the US State Commissions will approve the fight between Canelo and Jake Paul, as Nevada. The commission approved Floyd Mayweather Jr’s fight against MMA fighter Conor McGregor as a pay-per-view, if it is counted in the record books of their fight on August 26, 2017.
Bidarian is right. One of the state commissions will approve the fight between Canelo and Jake Paul, possibly Nevada or Texas, but that does not mean that the Mexican star will agree to the match. Canelo has certain values, and he will see how the fans will react to this match if he accepts. However, if Canelo is given a guarantee $100 million+he may be willing to put his pride aside to accept this circus act.
The Mexican star would have to be offered a huge guaranteed purse to even consider doing it, and it would pose a risk to any organisation.
McGregor had never fought before and came into the Mayweather fight with a 0-0 record with no experience. The result was unexpected, as Mayweather was the first to start McGregor before knocking him out in the 10th round.
Freak Show At Heavyweight
“He may be looking at what someone calls ‘a strange system.’ He may be looking to do exciting, disruptive things, like a fight with Anthony Joshua or Daniel Dubois, but that’s not in his current lineup. He [Jake] he will campaign at cruiserweight, Canelo as far as I know is going at 190,” said Bidarian.
If Jake moved up to heavyweight and proved himself by beating someone like Filip Hrgovic, Agit Kabayel, or Martin Bakole, a fight between him and Joshua or Dubois would be taken seriously. Since Jake wouldn’t be happy with that idea, it would make a joke for AJ or Dubois to fight him.
Anthony Joshua and Dubois will probably agree to fight Jake for the money. If Joshua was willing to fight 0-1 Francis Ngannou, he would gladly agree to a match with Jake. Dubois has already reached out to Jake so they can fight. It is not clear whether the IBF will approve this fight for his heavyweight title.
It didn’t matter what the federal commission had to say. This will be about the IBF agreeing to a rematch involving the undrafted Jake Paul to challenge Dubois for his title. I don’t see it happening. A fight is possible, but probably not for Dubois’ title.
