This simple move will help you unlock a powerful swing

Everyone wants to hit the ball long, but actually getting those yards is a very difficult task. What is the best way to find your natural strength? Gia Liwski, teaching specialist at Fiddlers Elbow CC in Bedminster, NJ, has a simple exercise machine to help.
In a video posted on the LPGA Professionals YouTube page, Liwski explained that recreational players often let their energy leak when they allow their arms to drop from their body during the swing. Instead, it is important to increase the feeling of keeping a connected feeling from the beginning to the end.
To practice this, Liwski suggests a shorter drill, like an 8-iron.
“Hold down to where you’re holding, just above the shaft,” Liwski said. “Put both hands on the club. Good posture. Swipe and aim the club. The left arm will stick to my chest.”
Liwski pays special attention to the left arm area here, because it’s the key to the punch.
“My left arm is still on my chest,” he says. “When I turn to bring the club, that’s where the power will come from.”
Liwski noted that recreational players often let their arm snap during a swing, and the attempt to reconnect is where things can go wrong quickly.
He says: “That’s where the disagreement begins.”
To use your strength, Liwski recommends curling up on a ball and thinking about keeping your left arm close to your chest.
Then all you have to do is swing, turn, and bomb it. It’s that simple!
