Mud covers Iceland’s Blue Lagoon car park Short Synopsis

The car park at Iceland’s world-famous Blue Lagoon is covered in mud, after a nearby volcano erupted for the seventh time in less than a year.

Guests at nearby hotels and homes were evacuated but authorities said there was no threat to air travel in the region.

Before 2021 the Reykjanes Peninsula had not seen a volcanic eruption in 800 years.

A seismologist says a long underground fault line has reawakened.
