2025 could be an intense year for Amazon. reports that, according to its sources, Amazon is “likely” to be investigated by the European Union (EU) for violating the Digital Markets Act (DMA) for allegedly promoting and offering its products before others on its online store.
The decision to launch the investigation will be taken by the EU’s antitrust chief Teresa Ribera. His term will begin next month following the outgoing king, who is stepping down after serving two terms.
Amazon denies that it violated the DMA. EU antitrust regulators launched an investigation in March into issues such as payments and the exclusive presentation of their apps on their online stores. The European Commission has also hinted that it may be looking into Amazon’s business practices under the new rules.
