UX reportedly paid his Brazilian fines to the wrong bank, causing the extradition case to be delayed
Despite the company’s recent decision to comply with the demands of the Brazilian Supreme Court, X is still not back online in Brazil – again according to the report. Reutersthat’s at least in part because it paid its fines to the wrong bank. After weeks of being banned in Brazil, X in late September appointed a representative for the country as instructed, and deleted the court accounts accused of spreading false information and hate speech. Its final hurdle was paying the fine it had collected, which is reported to be around $5 million.
Citing court documents on Friday, Reuters reports that X claims to have paid the fines and requested the return of services. But, Justice Alexandre de Moraes said the money went to the wrong bank, and the decision will have to wait until it is transferred. IX is determined to pay the fine properly, according to Reuters. UX has been banned in Brazil since the end of August. Although the company initially opposed the court’s orders, it recently changed its stance and said it was working with the Brazilian government to bring the platform back online in the country.
