Amazon sunset is an ad-supported Freevee streaming video platform

Amazon is shutting down Freevee, its free ad-supported video on demand service. The platform has been home to original shows and more than Prime Video’s roster. Freevee will be phased out in the coming weeks, and its content will be available as part of Prime Video. An ad-supported version of Prime Video is included as part of an Amazon Prime membership for $15 per month.

“To bring a simpler viewing experience to customers, we’ve decided to stop featuring the Freevee logo,” an Amazon spokesperson said. . “There will be no change to the content available to Prime members, and a large offering of free streaming will still be accessible to non-Prime members, including originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, an extensive library of FAST channels – all are available on Prime Video.”

The free-to-view platform has gone through several rebrands since it was first launched as IMDb Freedive in January 2019. It is in its final phase as Freevee in April 2022.
