As the Nitto ATP Finals begin, the second year of the Nitto ATP Finals Torino Green Project continues to highlight the tournament’s commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative, run by Nitto, ATP and the Federazione Italiana Tennis e Padel (FITP), includes a series of projects that connect fans, partners, and local stakeholders, emphasizing the power of cooperation in developing sustainable practices within the sport.
Highlight: The Green Wall
At the heart of the Fan Village, visitors will find The Green Wall – a sustainability-focused installation designed with live plants, developed in collaboration by Nitto, ATP and FITP. The wall invites fans to engage directly with the theme of sustainability, providing a vibrant backdrop for photos and social media sharing that promotes environmental awareness. After the tournament, The Green Wall will be moved inside Turin, an active symbol of the city’s sustainability campaign. As one of the European Commission’s 100 “Mission Cities”, Turin is committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
Innovation Summit: Leadership for the Circular Economy
This year’s Nitto ATP Finals Innovation Summit hosted its third edition on Friday, bringing together thought leaders to discuss ‘Right to Repair’ and circular economy initiatives. Speakers from Nitto, FITP, City of Turin, and Politecnico of Torino, among other industry representatives, joined a series of roundtable discussions, focusing on new ways of sustainable use and waste reduction. This Summit reaffirms Nitto and ATP’s shared commitment to sustainability through thought leadership and active collaboration with local institutions.
Fan Participation: Tracking Tour Releases
For the first time, fans attending the Nitto ATP Finals will have the opportunity to support the tournament’s sustainability goals by logging their travel to and from the event. Sponsored by Nitto in collaboration with the sustainability initiative LOWR, this initiative will provide important information on the carbon footprint of fan travel, which plays a major role in the release of events. This project is part of the ATP’s wider strategy, which focuses on improving the sustainability of sports.
“The Nitto ATP Finals is the highlight of our season, and we are proud to see it lead our way to sustainability,” said Massimo Calvelli, ATP CEO. “This progress is driven by collaboration, joining forces to achieve tangible change. Nitto’s support, along with the dedication of all our partners, was essential in making this event the best it could be – for tennis, our community and the world. “
This year’s Nitto ATP Finals Torino Green Project builds on a successful year in 2023, with actions including the planting of 40 trees near the Inalpi Arena, the installation of green roofs at bus stops in the city and a donation of €100,000 to the Municipality of Turin.
