PAD, Multifunctional Circular Trackpad Concept
I PAD is a circular trackpad concept designed to improve the standard trackpad and mouse experience by combining more functionality with premium features. Unlike a typical flat trackpad, the PAD features a dome-shaped, circular surface that not only supports touch but also provides additional buttons along its edges, allowing for flexible input options.
This design, created by Ivan Llaneza, aims to improve user ergonomics, offering a solution similar to Apple’s Magic Trackpad, but with new features to enhance the user experience.
One of the key features of PAD is its multi-functional environment. The circular trackpad allows users to press not only on the sides but also on the front and back, potentially adding button functions without moving the device. Additionally, a fingerprint scanner in the center of the dome provides secure authentication capabilities. The PAD’s use of high-quality materials also gives it a refined aesthetic, which sets it apart from the plastic trackpads and mice commonly used with desktop computers.
The PAD includes features beyond standard input devices—It includes RGB lighting along its line, and since it’s stationary, it can serve as additional data storage. In addition, it can be equipped with a microphone and speakers, allowing integration with AI assistants. This feature anticipates the growing trend of AI in consumer devices, making the PAD a future-proof option that combines functionality and style.
In short, PAD envisions a trackpad that functions not only as a precision input device but also as a versatile tool for security, storage, and AI-assisted computing. This concept could redefine computer interaction, offering desktop users a more immersive and rich alternative to the traditional mouse and trackpad.
