“The American people have given @realDonaldTrump A clear mandate for change tonight,” Musk said on Twitter after Fox called Trump’s race.
Earlier in the night, Musk tweeted a photo of himself with Trump and UFC president Dana White that appeared to have been taken at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s residence and private club in Florida.

Trump has promised to make Musk head of the new Department of Government Operations, meaning DOGE, a cryptocurrency Musk has previously invested heavily in. But aside from the name of the joke, it seems that both Musk and Trump are planning to do something. severe cuts in government spending, coupled with the deportation of millions, could put the economy in a bad state.
Musk has built his fortune with huge amounts of government money, including funding for Tesla and lucrative contracts for SpaceX. But with his newfound influence in the White House, Musk is positioned to funnel more money to his companies and friends, just as oligarchs do.
Trump took the stage in Palm Beach, Florida around 2:25 am ET and the Associated Press called Pennsylvania for the former president right away. MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow acknowledged that winning Pennsylvania created an insurmountable lead for Trump but the network did not officially call the state the Republican candidate at the time.
During his victory speech, Trump praised Musk as a “genius” and thanked the X owner in advance for his help. That aid reportedly included at least $120 million donated to Musk’s political committee America PAC, which has been accused of incredibly dark tactics, such as giving $1 million each day to registered voters in emerging states who signed a petition. Musk recently won a small victory in court after the District Attorney in Philadelphia tried to stop the offer and failed.
The 45th president (and soon-to-be 47th president) also promised to make Robert F. Kennedy Jr. an important person in his administration. Trump said Kennedy would “help make America healthy again,” during a speech earlier Wednesday. But Kennedy has incredibly different views on health, including the idea that vaccines cause autism. Kennedy also pledged to remove the fluid from the country’s drinking water.
Trump spent the campaign spreading vicious lies about immigration, promising to launch an army that would deport millions of people from the country, and promising to use the military to fight his political enemies. He’s given weird and wacky speeches at his rallies, and talked about topics like the late Arnold Palmer’s huge cock and even went so far as to give oral sex to a microphone. And those were just things he did in front of people.
Trump’s former chief of staff said he encountered the definition of fascist and said he often spoke favorably of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. John Kelly, a retired Marine general who worked for Trump from 2017 to 2019, quoted the former president as saying, “You know, even Hitler did good things.” It is reported that Trump also said that he wants the types of generals that Hitler had.
Trump will likely drop the federal charges against him when he takes office, although it remains to be seen how the federal charges will be expedited. Even if the state of Georgia tries to continue prosecuting Trump for trying to overturn the 2020 election, it is unlikely that the state will do much to impeach him given that the laws are fake and what matters is that people with guns decide to act. As president, Trump will naturally have many guns on his side.
Republicans have regained a majority in the US Senate, which will make it much easier for Trump to achieve his imperial goals, and a majority in the House looks within reach at the time of this writing. Control of Congress and the White House will give Trump and the rest of the Republican Party an opportunity to do whatever they want.
There are very dark days ahead. The darkest weeks, months, and years. And even if you don’t believe that Trump is going to isolate you or some of your people to hurt you, Project 2025 and the MAGA movement have widely promised a more widespread form of repression. Everyone in any position of authority will be given carte blanche to harm anyone they like, as long as it doesn’t harm the larger fascist effort. You will meet a mini-fascist somewhere on your travels in the years to come. And even if you think Trump is on your side, it won’t matter because the laws are fake and all that’s left is the use of raw power.
It won’t happen just once. But it will happen. Good luck. We will all need it.
