Adobe Unveils New Features in Photoshop and Illustrator
Adobe recently announced major updates to its flagship design programs, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Photoshop: New Features for Seamless Workflow
The latest release of Photoshop includes several powerful tools and enhancements that streamline workflow and provide more flexibility in creating digital art and design:
- Disruption Tool: This smart new technology allows users to quickly remove unwanted objects such as people, wires, and cables with ease.
- Productive Workspace (Beta): Powered by Adobe Firefly, this workspace gives designers the opportunity to think, imagine, and iterate concepts intuitively, facilitating the rapid production of great images.
- Adobe Substance 3D Viewer (Beta): Integrating with the Photoshop beta app, this feature allows designers to view and edit 3D Smart Objects within 2D designs.
- Production Tools: Now widely available, tools like Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Generate Similarity, and Generate Background—powered by the Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model—offer new ways to implement creative ideas.
- Workflow development: The release includes improvements such as OCIO configuration for advanced color management and 32-bit HDR workflow, which delivers higher image quality and accuracy.
Illustrator: Advanced Tools for Master Design Workflow
Illustrator updates are set to improve the design workflow with tools that improve productivity and creativity:
- Things On The Way: This feature allows users to quickly paste, edit, and move objects in any direction with speed and accuracy.
- Advanced Image Tracking: Designers can now convert images to vectors faster and faster, allowing for seamless customization.
- Filling a Productive Shape (Beta): Powered by the Firefly Vector model, this tool allows users to add detailed vectors to shapes using text input.
- Mockup feature: The new Mockup tool automatically adjusts art to fit real objects, making it easy to create high-quality prototypes for products such as packaging and goods.
- Productivity Enhancers: Updates like Closed Selection Mode, Export as PDF, Quick Gradient Creation, and simple everyday design tasks for improved speed and efficiency.
Responsible Design with AI and content insights
Adobe remains committed to supporting the creative community with AI innovations that adhere to the principles of AI Ethics. The company has integrated Content Insights into its Creative Cloud apps, including Photoshop, allowing creators to add information about themselves and their editing process to their work.
In addition, Adobe introduced a new Authenticity of Adobe content web application, which allows creators to protect their work and get proper attribution. The app includes Productive AI Training and a Preferred Usage feature, which allows users to indicate if they don’t want their content to be used to train AI models. A free public beta of this web app will be available in Q1 2025.
