2024 US Open runner-up Jessica Pegula will not compete for Team USA in this year’s BJK Cup finals.
The USTA announced the news on Wednesday, it said Ashlyn Krueger will take his place in the team.
Krueger will join Danielle Collins, Peyton Stearns, Taylor Townsend and Caroline Dolehide on the US Billie Jean King Cup team that will compete in the upcoming finals, which will be played November 13-20 in Malaga, Spain.
It will be the first BJK Cup match for Krueger, the 6-foot-1 20-year-old from Dallas who saw three wins against Top-25 players over the summer and reached the third round of the US Open. He is currently ranked No. 65 in singles and No. 64 in doubles.
Krueger ousted young star Mirra Andreeva 6-1, 6-4 at the Grandstand at this year’s US Open, as she broke the 17-year-old’s serve six times and dominated from the start to win in 64 minutes. He is a former Orange Bowl and USTA 18s champion.
