STORRS, Conn. — When Sam Biller entered the transfer portal after hitting 12 home runs this past spring at Loyola Marymount, he drew the usual interest from programs out West — and one from the other side of the country: Connecticut.
“We were lucky to find him. It’s not uncommon for a kid to come out of the West Coast and have a visit to USC cancel after seeing Storrs. And he committed that day,” longtime UConn coach Jim Penders said. “There is no chance of that happening 15, 20 years ago.”
