Universal Studios’ Epic New Theme Park Finally Has an Opening Day
After years of excitement and anticipation, we finally know when Universal Studios will open its fourth Orlando theme park, Epic Universe. The company recently announced that the park will open on May 22, 2025, with unique themed areas How to Train Your Dragon, Harry PotterNintendo, Universal Monsters, and more.
That might seem far-fetched, but not if you’re a theme park fan. The opening date means it’s time to make travel plans, and Universal also announced that tickets to the park, and rooms at its new Universal Helios Grand Hotel, will go on sale/reservations on October 22. As previously rumored, most will be accepted at the hotel. Epic Universe in what Universal calls “First Class” is only available as part of a big ticket package that includes admission to other theme parks: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.
So what does that mean? Well, you can click here for all the details but basically, if you want to go to Epic Universe from May 22, 2025, you will need to buy a multi-day ticket which will give you just one day in the park. Single-day tickets will be available on their own, but only to annual pass holders at the beginning and those tickets start on October 24. As for people who may only want to enter Epic Universe, “Additional ticket options for Universal Epic Universe— including single-day tickets for the general public and more— will be sold in the coming months.” Also, visit the official Epic Universe site for some details on all that, as well as the new hotel.
“This is a very important moment for our region, and we are very excited to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” said Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, in a press release. “With the addition of this amazing new theme park, our guests will experience an unforgettable vacation and a week of excitement that will be second to none! Our universe will never be the same.”
That last phrase is key. Yes, it would be great to be among the first to visit the Epic Universe, ride its passengers, and discover its secrets. But it’s not going anywhere. It will be there from May 2025 until forever so if you want to go, but can’t fathom paying for three parks to visit one, just stay strong. In the coming months and years there will be plenty of time to visit Celestial Park, Department of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon‘s Isle of Berk, and the Dark Universe.
