Jules Guerrier captures the ‘PlayStation’ on the front nine at the Andalucia Masters

SAN ROQUE, Spain — Julien Guerrier birdied nine of his first 11 holes en route to an opening round 10-under 62 at the Andalucia Masters on Thursday.

Guerrier again bogeyed the 15th to take a one-shot lead over Englishman Dan Brown, who made two eagles and five birdies.

“I felt like I was playing PlayStation in the front nine, it was so much fun,” Guerrier said. “Yes, it was really good, but I tried to focus on the 18 holes because we know with this wind anything can happen.”

The Frenchman had no trouble at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in southern Spain.

“When you play like that and everything goes your way, you take everything and it’s a good feeling, of course,” he said. “It looks easy on the outside but it’s very difficult to stay in the moment. Sometimes emotions are very high and you try to calm down a bit, but at the same time you try to enjoy it too, so it’s good. balance.”

Jon Rahm, playing in his third European Tour event in the past four weeks, shot 2-under par in a round that included five birdies and three bogeys. He was imprisoned for 38 years.

Rahm, world number 14, is the top-ranked player in the field this week, which marks the final tournament of the year on the European Tour.

The final tournaments are in South Korea, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Another top 50 player in the world is Thriston Lawrence (69).

Spain’s Jorge Campillo shot two shots off the lead after a bogey-free 64.
