Less than 7 months ago, Fabio Wardley faced Frazer Clarke in a battle of undefeated heavyweights, and that clash of styles produced a very exciting and competitive encounter. Clarke was a smart and sound boxer, but Wardley’s explosive and unpredictable style negated that, and that’s what made this fight so good. After 12 rounds of intense action, the fight was drawn.
This past weekend, the two had a rematch where opinions were divided. Many people believed that Clarke would be able to make better transitions, being the one with the better skills and boxing ability all around.
Some believe that Wardley’s superior speed and athleticism will allow him to adjust better and find ways to deliver his destructive power. Those from the second camp seem to be right. Wardley showed good power, stopping Clarke in the opening round. It was Wardley’s horrendous beating.
Where does Wardley go from here? Right now there are a ton of interesting possibilities for Wardley, from guys in the top 20, to guys just outside the top 10, or maybe even some of the lower ranked contenders. 10. There is no doubt that Wardley will get another big chance to help raise his profile, and he will probably get that chance soon, after making a big statement in his rematch with Frazer Clarke.
