Pokémon developer Game Freak confirmed that its servers were hacked in August. The breach meant internal content – from source codes to early or scrapped character designs – was spread across social media over the weekend.
Leaked documents and images are flooding Reddit and X after Centro Leaks started dropping them all on Saturday afternoon. It is suspected to include source codes for past games and codenames for the Switch 2 and upcoming Gen 10 Pokémon games. There are also references to Pokémon MMOs, upcoming movies and new anime series. The leak revealed tons of beta character designs and concept art.

Last week, robovacs across the country were hacked, allowing attackers to not only control the robovacs, but use their speakers to hurl racial slurs and offensive comments at anyone nearby. Specifically, it was the Ecovacs Deebot X2s, which have a reputation for being easy to hack. The company says it has developed a patch to fix the security flaw – but that won’t start until November. Maybe October is a messy house kind of month?

23,000 Redboxes must go!
Redbox is dead, but its cuboid corpses live on in supermarkets and stores across the country. The machines are heavy and cumbersome, with a former Redbox executive suggesting it costs $500 to move one kiosk. Note: Some machines are embedded in concrete. Some devotees have taken to accepting it anyway. One more note: These boxes use a lot of power. Walgreens told the judge that it costs the company $184,000 each month to power the 5,400 kiosks, about $35 a month per machine. That was fine 10 years ago, when the company pulled in $2 billion in annual revenue.
