For more than a decade, the The future The franchise has taken players on a journey across the galaxy on console and PC. The sci-fi shooter is in a strange place right now, but Bungie is committed to expanding it in new ways in hopes of reaching a new audience.
Come in Conclusion: Ascension, the first ever mobile title of the series. Developed by NetEase Games (of Marvel Rivals fame), players will once again take on the role of a Guardian and fight the forces of Darkness with an array of guns and cosmic powers. The main difference is, Getting up is set in the post-Dark Age era in the early days of the ever-so-familiar Last City on Earth. Not only that, it is set in another timeline that is separate from the two main line games.
You wouldn’t know it from the trailer, though: there’s a lot that’s familiar here, from the enemies and locations to the series’ science fantasy aesthetic. But the differences are readily apparent, as are the number of new characters who look like they’ll take on key supporting roles in the story alongside the likes of Zavala, Osiris, and Saint-14 Destiny 2. Most importantly, players take on the role of the Guardian’s predecessors, the Lightbearers.
According to lead designer Murty Wu at vidoc, Getting up set well before the iconic Hunter, Titan, and Warlock series of classes were created. Thus, “the path of light is not clear and not clear. At that time, there were no guidelines for what it meant to be a Lightbearer.” So instead, Lightbearers will have different fighting styles: the trailer shows new Supers like Void Scythe and Arc Shield. What other powers are expected, and what this means for the new Stasis and Strand subclasses (and the Transcendence state) is up in the air, but it definitely looks and sounds The future.
