Steam Deck is coming to Australia in November
Australian gamers will no longer have to buy a Steam Deck at exorbitant prices from a reseller or import it into the country with help from a friend overseas. At PAX Australia, Valve announced that it will start selling the portable PC gaming device in the country from November. Currently, Steam Deck is only available in the US, Canada, UK and EU, as well as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong through the Komodo website. But Valve updated the console’s official page with the announcement that “Your Games, down by November 2024.”
Both the LCD and OLED versions will go on sale in Australia, with the 256GB LCD variant setting buyers back $649 AUD. The 512GB OLED console will cost $899 AUD, while the 1TB OLED version will sell for $1,049 AUD. Valve released the OLED Steam Deck last year as a mid-cycle refresh with a better screen, better battery life, better haptics and better overall features than the original. Its OLED screen has thin bezels, comes with native HDR support and has fast frame rates.
Even though the LCD version may not be as good as its new sibling, we still think it’s one of the best portable PCs on the market. It’s still powerful enough to run most Steam games, including AAA titles, and it’s cheaper than an OLED console.
