Unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and WBA champion Dmitry Bivol made their Grand Arrivals today at their Saturday night bout in Riyadh. Underdog Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) confirmed his surgically repaired knee is “fine” and is ready to go in his undisputed title fight against Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs).
Bivol, 33, made it clear that he must focus 100% to defeat Beterbiev. He knows he won’t be able to slip up for a while in this fight because Beterbiev is hitting hard, and he’s going to get him in trouble.
It is not known how Bivol will win this fight because the way he fought in the past with Canelo Alvarez, Malik Zinad, and Gilberto Ramirez will be very dangerous. Beterbiev is the better counter puncher and will take advantage of the combination of boxing that Bivol uses to win his fights.
Dmitry Bivol: “This is a dream fight for all the fighters, and I am very happy that I got this opportunity because many great players did not get this opportunity. I got it. I was waiting, and I was working hard. Now I have to work in the ring,” said BIvol during the Grand Arrivals in Riyadh today.
“I don’t care about 50-50, 60-40. Just numbers. I only focus on my work in the ring. We will see an undisputed fight,” said Bivol when asked what the fans will watch on Saturday night in his match against Beterbiev. “Yes, people have been waiting for this fight for many years.
“They are two different styles, two boxers who have never been defeated. I am waiting for this big fight.”
Artur Beterbiev: “Yes, I am ready. My knee is fine, too. “Maybe I don’t think about it, but now it will happen, I hope,” said Beterbiev when asked if he is thinking about his undefeated title at 175 against Bivol. “We’ll see on October 12,” Beterbiev said, answering the question ‘How tough is Bivol.’
