Oura Ring 4 Will Show You How Stressful Your Daily Activities Are

Oura announced the fourth iteration of its smart ring, Oura Ring 4, today. There have been a few changes to the design, comfort, and accompanying app, but the biggest breakthrough is the new Smart Sensing technology.

Smart Sensing works by using a new algorithm on top of the sensors in the ring to cater for the physiology of each person’s fingers separately. It also uses sensors mounted on the body of the ring for more accurate tracking. The sensors have increased from eight to 18, which should translate to much improved accuracy. Oura claims that battery life has not been compromised for better results. When fully charged, the ring should last eight days.

The new Smart Sensing technology should also affect comfort. The company says the sensors previously embedded in the raised housings in the Gen 3 Oura Ring have now been “reversed” for realization. slimmer profile and better wear.

Thanks to all these features, Oura Ring 4 should be the most accurate iteration of the company to date. Oura compared the third and fourth generation models side-by-side and found that the latter provided a significant increase in blood oxygen sensing, breathing disturbances, and heart rate monitoring.

Along with the new ring and app redesign, Oura has also worked on several new features for its $5.99 monthly membership (or $69.99 annually). It went from being able to track your heart rate for five different types of activities to including 40 activities. There is a brand new stress feature that allows members to view their daily activities in relation to the stress associated with them so that they can better manage their processes. This is the feature I am most looking forward to. The reproductive health aspect of membership is becoming more and more diverse. Cycle Insights will now include estimated fertile days, the chance of getting pregnant on those days, and estimated ovulation days.

Finally, Android users get access to Oura Labs, which was previously iOS only. Oura Labs allows users to test undeveloped features and provide feedback to the company. It also includes a productive Oura Advisor feature powered by AI, which allows conversations with consumers to value their health plans or help them better understand their information.

Oura Ring 4 has expanded its size range to 12 sizes (from four to 15). It’s available for pre-order today in six colors and will begin shipping on October 15. The ring is priced at $349, and both the ring and membership are HSA and FSA eligible.
