Two Harvard students used facial recognition technology and a large language model to find the name of the course, the job and other details. Their setup (called XRAY) can use that information to pull data such as addresses, phone numbers, family member information and partial social security numbers from various online sources.
In a demo video, AnhPhu Nguyen and Caine Ardayfio use the glasses to talk to seemingly strangers by name, discuss their work and reveal a place they may have met in the past, based on the information captured. The students said 404 Media they developed XRAY to let people know what’s possible with current technology — they won’t release the code they used.
