Weights:
Janibek Alimkhanuly 159.5 lbs
Andrei Mikhailovich 160
Janibek (15-0, 10 KOs) will defend his IBF title against Mikhailovich (21-0, 13 KOs) at The Star in Sydney, Australia. The event starts at 5:00 am ET/2:00 am PT.
Mikhailovich Promises to “Kill” Janibek
“It’s hard to find fights, but soon the world will know who I am, and I’m happy about that,” said Andrei Mikhailovich at the last press conference. “I will win. There is no doubt about it, and the Lord is going home.
“I feel like a champion. I feel great about myself. I think the biggest thing is I walk down the street like I’m a champion. I’m cool with anything. I expect to be here. I expect to be a champion. This is what I do. This is what I’m talking about. I am happy with my work on Friday. I will kill you.”
“Tomorrow will be a very difficult day for you. I will show you what I will do,” said Janibek.
“I’m happy,” said Mikhailovich. “Do you know what jetlag is? Do you know what the end of the water is? Do you know what happens to your skull when you’re dehydrated? It’s like a layer of water that protects your brain in your skull. Otherwise and without good courage, those fists will hurt.
“Those gut punches will really hurt. That temple will explode. Farewell, soldier.”
“I’m not used to that nonsense. I come from high level fighters,” said Egis Klimas, Janibek’s manager.
