Novak Djokovic he says Jannik SinnerAn ongoing complaint with the World Anti-Doping Agency gives the sport a bad look. Speaking in Shanghai, where he will take his place at the Thailand Masters, Djokovic expressed his thoughts on the latest in Sinner’s doping case.
“I think it’s clear that we have a system that doesn’t work well,” said Djokovic. “So I think that’s probably something people who don’t follow our game see. There is too much conflict, the way many governing bodies are involved and the whole issue is not helping our game at all.”
Last week we learned that WADA is in the process of appealing Sinner’s case, and wants to be banned for one to two years.

“Obviously I’m very disappointed and surprised,” Sinner told reporters in Beijing on Monday. “We had three hearings. All three hearings went well for me. Maybe they want to make sure everything is in the right place.”
Djokovic sympathized with Sinner, who appeared to be guilty of a serious crime when he announced he had avoided a ban after appealing the case to the ITIA.
“I think he has won the three appeals so far, and it must be very difficult for him and his team and his family,” Djokovic said. “It’s amazing what he’s been doing, throughout this program that’s been happening, that he’s playing at such a high level, winning a Grand Slam and, you know, winning a lot of the matches he’s playing.”
The Serbian legend added that he hopes the case will be heard in the near future.
“I hope we can get back to tennis,” he said.
“This situation or these situations are not good for our sport, so we hope that we can quickly resolve this case. Whatever is going to happen, at the end of the day, I just want it to be resolved as quickly as possible. Well, that’s all I have to say about that.”
