Threads will show how many followers you have on fediverse

Meta has been improving Threads’ compatibility with fediverse over the past year. Now, the company is taking another important step with an update that allows users to see more information about their followers and interactions with people from other servers across the fediverse.

Until now, Threads has featured replies from Mastodon and other servers, and notified users of likes to their posts from other different apps. But there was no way for a Threads user to see information about their followers on those services. That is now changing, Adam Moseri explained in the post.

With the update, anyone who has opted in to cross sharing on Threads will be able to see a detailed list of their followers on other servers and view their profiles. This will give the people at Threads a better sense of their reach and audience on Mastodon and other apps.

Various support for Threads is still limited overall. Users can still reply to replies from applications outside of Threads, and there is no way to search for people on other servers from Threads. There is still a delay in sending crosses; it will now take 15 minutes for posts from Threads to appear as Meta re-extends the post editing window.

Elsewhere, third-party developers are also making it easier for users who want to post to multiple decentralized services. A new app called Croissant allows cross-posting to Threads, Mastodon and Bluesky all at once. Paid app, first seen by TechCrunch, aims to replicate the functionality of enterprise social media management apps like Buffer.
