The best Apple AirTag accessories of 2024
It can be hard to keep track of all your stuff with our busy lives, work, kids – you name it. The Apple AirTag is a small, affordable Bluetooth tracking device that can be placed in or inside your bag or luggage, attached to your pet’s collar or keys, or anything else you might have a habit of losing. It pairs seamlessly with your iPhone, allowing you to use the Find My app to locate your AirTag and your belongings. But to get the most out of your AirTag, it’s worth investing in the best AirTag accessories, such as a key chain, AirTag mount, holder or case. These add-ons not only provide additional security but also help you customize how and where you use your AirTag. Convenience is key here, and we’ve reviewed a number of AirTag accessories to help you choose the best AirTag holders for your needs.
Best AirTag holders
Elevation Lab
It’s easy to throw an AirTag in your coat pocket or the bottom of your bag, but it’s also easy for the tracking device to fall out of those things. Enter Elevation Lab’s TagVault Fabric mount, which attaches to a variety of fabrics to keep track of your belongings discreetly. The outer ring of the Vault is very flexible, so once you attach it to your jacket line or bag, it will move and adjust as you do the same with your belongings. The adhesive is quite strong, but it’s easy to install or remove the AirTag as you need it. The sealed plastic cap pops off, so you can remove your AirTag whenever you need to change its battery. If you’re looking for something similar with a durable, waterproof design, Elevation Lab makes these surface mount mounts that fit the bill.

Belkin
If you’d like to attach your AirTag to the outside of your bag or carry on, consider doing so with Belkin’s Secure Holder with Cable Wire. While some owners use a simple keyring to attach the tracker to your belongings, this case uses a very strong braided wire. The case itself opens with a small Allen key to allow you to insert the AirTag, then you can lock it again before inserting the tag to use. Not only is it less likely that your AirTag will get dislodged from this thing, it’s also less likely that the phone strap will get caught on something and break. Overall, a thoughtfully designed holder that makes a great luggage tag.

Spigen
Spigen’s Valentinus AirTag cover is one of the best alternatives I’ve found to Apple’s leather key rings. It has a very similar design to the first person accessory (albeit made of pleather) , but it comes much cheaper at only $8. Your tracking device attaches to the AirTag’s well-shaped skin loop and snaps shut, and since the skin stretches slightly on both sides of the tracker, it’s much less likely to come off suddenly. I also appreciate that it comes with a carabiner style key ring, which makes it easy to secure your belongings.

Caseology
Caseology’s Vault has a very user-friendly design, made of tough, textured TPU. The oval shaped holder has an opening on one side where you insert your AirTag. One side has a small opening attached to the included carabiner, which is one of the best clips I’ve found in my testing. It’s pretty basic as far as carabiners go, but it’s better than a standard key ring – especially if you want to easily attach your AirTag to something other than your keys like backpack straps, or a pet collar. Overall, the Caseology Vault is one of the most attractive holders I’ve tested and will be a solid choice for anyone who doesn’t need stainless steel or leather.

Orbitkey
Orbitkey’s Leather Holder for the AirTag is an excellent version of the Apple device. It’s a genuine leather sleeve that opens wide enough to slip your AirTag into its pocket. Attached is a quick-release ring that takes some getting used to, but once you know how to open it, it’s easy to secure to your keys. You basically just have to push one side on the holder ring to open it, allowing you to secure the AirTag to your lanyard, car keys and the like. It’s a great choice if you like your accessories to have a more polished look.

Belkin
AirTags can also help you track large bags and luggage, and you can easily slip one into an inside pocket and call it a day. But if you’d like to connect the tracker outside, you’ll need something bigger and more flexible than a standard key ring. Belkin’s Secure Holder With Strap is a great option: it comes in a variety of colors and is budget-friendly at just $13. The case opens in two pieces, allowing you to sit the AirTag inside the ring and twist and snap the two parts together to lock it. You can then attach the AirTag to your luggage handle, dog collar, water bottle or other item with a strap, which feels really sturdy.
I appreciate the unique design of the Belkin Security Holder, although it was difficult to twist open while the AirTag was in it. But that’s a good thing to use every day; Your AirTag isn’t going anywhere if you’re with us Securely. I also liked its slightly raised edges, which provide more protection from bumps and bumps.

If it happens
Incase’s Woolenex AirTag holder is another attractive as it is durable. The company’s Woolenex fabric is made from a woven blend of polyester fibers that make the accessory lightweight, water-repellent and non-fading and tear-resistant. Incase makes a ton of gadgets and accessories out of this material, and those who like premium fabrics that can handle a little wear and tear will love it. The holder has a TPU snap closure and a rounded cutout so it won’t interfere with the AirTag signal – plus, it lets you see any good recordings you might have on your tracking device.

that one
Whether you attach an AirTag to your house keys or attach one to your child’s backpack, you don’t have to deal with a boring holder. There are a number of fun AirTag cases available now and some of our favorites are from Elago. The utility company makes a number of small AirTag holders – which are good options if you’re looking for something simple and cheap – but they also have silicone cases shaped like avocados, ice cream bars, floppy disks and retro game controllers. The best part is that, unlike other brands that can quickly raise prices if you want a fancy shaped case or holder with your favorite character on it, Elago gaming cases won’t run you more than $15 each.

Pelican
Keys and belts are not the best way to attach the AirTag to anything and everything. Items such as bicycles, coolers, luggage and other items can be better served with an adhesive mount. Pelican makes one of the most protective cases available right now – the Protector Sticker Mount case has a two-piece design that you open to insert your AirTag inside. It acts as a small box where your AirTag sits while tracking your items. You can attach it to your gear using a strong adhesive panel on the back of the case, and Pelican even includes an extra attachment pad in the package, just in case you need another. While the case itself is difficult to open at first, that goes to show how difficult it can be for your AirTag to accidentally slip out of.

AirTag Owner FAQs
Why do AirTags need a holder?
AirTags require a holder because they don’t have built-in keyholes like Tile, Chipolo and other Bluetooth trackers.
How do you attach AirTag to objects?
You will need a holder or case to attach the AirTag to your items. If you are comfortable with placing the AirTag in the inside pocket of a bag or coat, you can do so without an additional accessory. But if you want to use one to track your keys, wallet, backpack or pet on your collar, you’ll need a device that can accommodate that use.
