The first trailer for Ballerina is coming, says Ana de Armas

Lionsgate is looking to continue with John Wick franchise, and spinoffs are part of that equation. It’s easy to forget, but there is already one on the way in the form of John Wick Presents: Ballerina. If you’re thinking you’d like to finally see something of that, good news, lead actress Ana de Armas says we’re not too far from that happening.

In a recent interview with Collider at TIFF, de Armas revealed that he was told the film would get its first trailer “soon.” Having seen it himself, he was happy about it, as he admitted that he was naturally biased. He even called the trailer “beautiful,” and is “proud” of his work on the film as a whole. Elaborating on the film, he teased it as “really fun. It’s dangerous, it’s adorable, it’s so much fun John Wick. I think people will be surprised.”

Directed by Len Wiseman of The underworld honor, Ballerina it is set between the third and fourth main films and centers on Rooney, a killer ballerina who hunts down the people who killed her family. Along with returning stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick (in one of his final appearances) in their roles, the cast includes Gabriel Byrne (Genetics) as the main character, Sharon Duncan-Brewster (A mound), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Catalina Sandino Moreno (From) and David Castañeda (Umbrella Academy).

Ballerina it was scheduled to return in June, but was delayed for reshoots with help from producer (and mother business director) Chad Stahelski. After it appeared at CinemaCon 2024 this past April, it’s good to know that we’ll finally get a look at our first film (and franchise starter) before its release on June 6, 2025.
