Edgar Berlanga says he is not interested in fighting David Morrell or Caleb Plant in his next fight. Berlanga (22-1, 17 KOs) feels that his fight with Canelo Alvarez two weeks ago on September 14 proved that he is the “next PPV star” and “cash cow” at 168.
Morrell and Plant could destroy Berlanga, as well as Diego Pacheco, Christian Mbilli, Osleys Iglesias, Trevor McCumby, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Bektemir Melikuziev and Erik Bazinyan.
Berlanga is a good low ranked competitor at 168 and should never have been ranked #1 by the WBA. That was the most popular junk based Berlanga fan base in New York City.
Despite losing 12-0 to Canelo, Berlanga wants Jaime Munguia or Jermall Charlo next. Berlanga feels that the fight between him and Munguia will be big on PPV because of the feud between Mexico and Puerto Rico, which is still in the pockets of the US.
Berlanga has taken on the role of villain in his career, the type of wrestling star that many now use to gain fans. The role of the villain dates back to the 1940s when the wrestler Good George he accepted in order to have fame.
