Sega Announces Sonic the Hedgehog-DC Comics Crossover

Earlier today, Sega held a Sonic-centric live stream called Sonic Central, announcing new items from the blue blur. A surprise inclusion was the announcement that Sonic and DC Comics are collaborating on a Justice League comic book that will be released in March 2025.

During the 30-minute show, Sega shared a fun animation of Shadow the Hedgehog as Batman, the official Sonic X/Twitter account that went offline on Batman Day. At the time, the animation left many Sonic fans scratching their heads as to why a Sonic account would go out of its way to make a video of Shadow as the Caped Crusader appearing out of the blue. Now we know that was a promotional video for DC and Sonic’s upcoming comic book crossover.

According to Sonic product and business chief Ivo Gerscovich, the Sonic x DC tie-in will “start” with a five-month comic book written by writer Ian Flynn. Although the stream went out of its way to leave an artist behind the game, it was not shy to show off the DC hero-inspired designs of its Sonic characters. Instead of the Sonic team working closely with the Justice League, the untitled comic book will see them suit up as superheroes. Notable among them are Sonic as Flash, Shadow as Batman, Amy as Wonder Woman, Silver as Green Lantern, and Tails as Cyborg.

In addition to the run of five DC Comic stories, Sega also announced an upcoming series of comics and merchandise, including clothing, accessories, and toys, which will arrive in the fall of 2025. At the end of the Sonic x DC Comics mash. -in a segment on Sonic Central’s presentation, Gerscovich teased Sega getting its money’s worth from the partnership by announcing that the celebrations will continue into 2026.

Seeing the Sonic partnership six months away, Sega was fed up Sonic fans by ending the broadcast with a special message from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler. While the video is the equivalent of a sizzle reel that recounts the past Sonic films with comments from the people produced that teased more stories to come, giving us a look at each of Sonic and Shadow with the film’s logo. We even got a small clip of Fowler outside of what could be a Paramount Pictures production facility with Chao’s dancing mascots. Shout out to the Chao fans out there.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in theaters on December 20.
