Every season, Netflix’s fictional anthology series Black A mirror takes the audience through a series of concepts, characters, and worlds. Despite six seasons under his belt, creator Charlie Brooker didn’t feel the need to sink the sequel properly–until the upcoming seventh season and another story about the game. USS Callister, that.
During Netflix’s Geeked Week, Brooker spoke with Collider about why he decided to return for a fourth season of the fan favorite. Star Trek the riff. Apparently, he’s had brain tracking for a while, so it felt natural to continue exploiting them. However, he admitted that “it was very difficult to get all the stars aligned.” [But] we love the actors, and the actors were very good and very good people.” Since this episode left the door open for other adventures, how could he seize this opportunity?
The episode “Callister” ended with the famous group—including Lowry (Michaela Coel), Coel (Cristin Milioti), and Valdack (Billy Magnussen)—discovering that they were digital clones of real-world people trapped inside a multiplayer game called by saying. Endless run by the real-world version of their abusive captain Daly (Jesse Plemmons). After capturing Daly in the game, the crew is on a “new frontier” with a vast “infinitely rendered” world to explore, according to Brooker.
And many of the original “Callister” cast, new Black Mirror The season will feature some returning faces behind the camera. The “Callister” sequel will bring back co-writer Will Bridges, while “Demon 79” writer Bisha K. Ali (who also wrote Ms. Marvel) will return to host another episode. Working with them has also been “very exciting” for Brooker, and he’s on a high for the new season overall. “I think we did it with pride,” he quipped.
