UX is reportedly backtracking after weeks of refusing to comply with conditions set by Brazil’s Supreme Court that would allow him to work in the country again. In accordance with The company’s lawyers said in court on Friday that they filed a request for X to appoint a lawyer in Brazil as requested by judge Alexandre de Moraes and to remove the accounts that the judge identified as a threat to democracy, as well as to pay the fines he owed. But, the publication also reports that the Supreme Court of Brazil said that X did not submit all the necessary documents, and now he has five days to do so.
The documents that X failed to submit are those that would prove that he has legally appointed a legal representative in Brazil, as required by Brazilian law, according to . The company has been working to restore service to Brazilian users after it was blocked at the end of August, and briefly came back online earlier this week using Cloudflare’s DNS. But, he said this was “unintentional and temporary.” In a statement, at the time, “While we expect that the platform will not be accessible to Brazil again soon, we are continuing our efforts to work with the Brazilian government to quickly return to the people of Brazil.”
Brazil has an estimated $1 million in cash if it does not comply with the ban in the country. Justice Moraes also made it possible for Brazilian users to be fined about $8,900 to reach X. The company’s latest move is a move to resolve the issue and potentially bring X back to Brazil legally.
