In case you’ve been living under a rock, Bandai Namco is about to release the latest installment of the fan favorite. Budokai anime fighting video game series, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. The reviews (including one from yours truly) speak of it as descriptive Dragon Ball a game for its attention to detail, callbacks to both the anime and its game predecessors, and its humorous plot. As fate would have it, even the game’s main roster number is a reference to an apparently hidden Easter egg in the late Akira Toriyama’s OG. Dragon Ball lie.
In a new trailer video, Bandai Namco confirmed that Sparking! Zero it will have a lot more Dragon Ball history of the game, a program with 182 amazing characters. Although the number is overwhelming as it is clear, it is also a deep reference to chapter 113 in. Dragon Ballaptly titled Back to the Race. In it, Goku makes his grand return from his training sabbatical to participate in the World Martial Arts Tournament alongside Krillin, Yamcha, and Master Roshi (disguised as Jackie Chun).
This is where the reference number comes in. Sparking! ZeroThe pure manga reference will have a shelf life because there are ongoing plans for the game to add more characters from Dragon Ball legends. Speaking to GamesRadar+, producer Jun Furutani confirmed that Sparking! Zero will have three waves of ammunition from Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroagain Dragon Ball Daima as post-launch DLC.
Nifty manga reference though, Dragon Ball fans can look forward to playing Sparking! Zero when it releases on October 11 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
