Goonies Cast Says Rumored Sequel Isn’t Happening
Now that Beetlejuice juice is out and making money, it probably won’t be long before the beloved films of the 80s get their own legacy. (Or rather, more of them are added to the pile.) If you thought The Goons it would be one of those, it feels like you should direct your hopes anywhere else.
Earlier this week, rumors surfaced that Warner Bros. wanted to start a new one The Goonies the movie. It sounded a bit official thanks to the claim that the original cast would return, Steven Spielberg (creator of the story of the first film) would direct, and that the film would be scheduled for release in 2026 or 2027. Things got even worse Sean Astin – or rather, whoever is in charge of social media -seems to be putting his support behind it. But it doesn’t have to be, as early stars Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton shot down those rumors. hard. Feldman said he had “no knowledge” of any job sequence, and Plimpton was specific in his words.
“There is no The Goonies 2 script, none attached. Spielberg doesn’t direct, it’s not true,” he said on Instagram. The truth CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION AND VOTE!!!!”
Much like beetlejuice 2, there have been many rumors and hopes during the new years The Goonies the movie is coming. After the cast reunited for a 2020 COVID-19 fundraiser, Spieberg admitted that he had discussed possible follow-up ideas with Chris Columbus, the late director Richard Donner, and producer Lauren Shuler Donner, but they never settled on anything concrete. Happily, there is a show about i The Goonies movie in the works called our time, but in terms of actual continuity, it seems that those dreams will have to remain dreams.
