The artist says that Nerf’s Destiny 2 hand cannon is a masterpiece of their work

An artist passing through X says the appearance of Nerf’s Ace of Spades gun from Bungie The future the games came from a work of art they drew about ten years ago.

Nerf and Bungie unveiled their new foam dart gun collaboration on Tuesday with a limited edition Destiny 2 available for purchase on . The next morning, @tofu_rabbit posted photos comparing Nerf’s newest foam dart launcher to a piece of art they created in 2015 and posted their bases on the same gun from the game.

An artist has revealed 11 parts or designs on a Nerf gun that allegedly closely match its original design. It includes features such as an upside-down shovel on the handle, a matching crack in the paintwork in the bullet chamber and a paisley pattern engraved on the gun just before the gun. They say the design of the Nerf gun “DIRECTLY lifts the commission” they made in 2015, and adds that the similarities go beyond “similarity” or “accident.”

Bungie released a statement on that they are investigating the artist’s claims and “will share more about what next steps we are taking once we gather more information.” We’ve also reached out to Nerf’s parent company Hasbro for comment.
