Taylor Swift Officially Approves Kamala Harris After Trump Controversy

Taylor Swift officially endorsed Kamala Harris as president Tuesday night on Instagram after months of speculation. The pop star said she was inspired to make her vote known after seeing an AI video in which she endorsed convicted felon and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. His post came after Trump’s debate with Vice President Kamala Harris in which he showed whether he had no real world.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a good time to do your research on the issues at hand and where these people will take on topics that matter to you,” Swift wrote. “As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and programs for this country.”
Swift went on to explain how she was shocked to see a video of her AI saying something on Instagram.
“Recently I have been informed that the ‘I’ AI falsely endorsing the presidency of Donald Trump has been sent to his place,” the pop singer wrote. “It really combined my fear of AI, and the dangers of disinformation. It has made me conclude that I need to be open about my real plans for this election as a voter. The easiest way to combat misinformation is the truth.”
Swift then went on to officially endorse Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift explained. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because he’s fighting for the rights and causes that I believe need a hero to champion them. I think he is a strong, gifted leader and I believe that we can achieve a lot in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was heartened and impressed by her choice of partner @timwalz, who has been fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Swift’s decision to endorse Harris is not entirely out of left field, given the fact that she endorsed Joe Biden in 2020. But there was a question about whether and how he would announce his official support for Harris. Swift similarly made her endorsement of Biden known through an Instagram post.
Swift was quick to tell her fans that there are issues that need to be resolved if you really want your voice to be heard on November 5. The pop star said that anyone who wants to join her in voting should make sure they vote. They are registered first.
“I have done my research and made my choice. Your research is yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” Swift wrote. “I want to say again, especially to first-time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you must register! I also find it much easier to vote early. I will link to where to register and get early voting dates and information in my case.”
Swift ended by signing off the post, “With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady.” That last part apparently caught Trump’s JD Vance, who said that feral cats are destroying the country.
The debate was a complete disaster for Trump, as he found himself completely outclassed by Harris in almost every way. Harris was calm, cool, and collected but powerful in deflecting Trump’s lies and contradictions. Trump seemed angry, often yelled and often confused about basic facts. For example, Trump referred to the leader of the Taliban as “Abdul,” which is not even close to his real name, Hibatullah Akhundzada. And the Republican candidate also tried to talk about the governor of Virginia, but said West Virginia instead.
Trump went on a rampage, lied about immigrants eating pets in Ohio (which never happened) and even tried to deny things he said recently, like when he mistakenly admitted he lost the 2020 election. Trump insisted, “that was said sarcastically.” But ABC News president David Muir said it didn’t seem like a joke to him.
Surprisingly, even the far-right propaganda network Fox News seemed dismayed by Trump’s performance on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Harris presented a clear and coherent vision for the country’s future, insisting that he will not take America back to the regressive policies of the Trump presidency.
“I’m not Joe Biden. And I’m certainly not Donald Trump. What I’m offering is a new generation of leadership for our country,” Harris said in one of the best lines from the night.
The choice couldn’t be clearer. And the greatest singer in the world has made his choice known. Taylor Swift votes for Kamala Harris. The question that remains in November is whether Americans will do the same.
